The
Mountain Echo is owned and edited by Walt and
Donna Caldwell. They live and work (and volunteer a lot!) in
the community and the paper reflects their understanding of
and concern with local events. It is published weekly and
includes as many community events as Walt or one of his
reporters can cover. It's a large task, since the area they
serve is from Adin to Round Mountain. They have frequent
reports on the young men and women currently serving in the
military, great sports coverage for all the school teams,
and include occasional reports from the kids in colleges
outside of the area. The paper has a useful ad section and
schedules of local events, as well.
One of the
smartest things a visitor can do is pick up their
Tourist Companion. It is available in most local
stores, motels and restaurants. It includes a complete
guide to all businesses in the community, as well as
information about local parks, hunting and fishing
regulations, and access to waterways. Their 2004 copy is now
available at most businesses.
The
Mountain Echo maintains a website, too. Whether
you are a part-time resident or an occasional visitor,
consider a subscription. This is a "printer friendly" page,
so hit print and send the whole page or just the form below
to: Mountain Echo, 43152 Highway 299E Suite B, Fall River
Mills, CA 96028. If you are from Lassen, Shasta, or Modoc
Counties, the subscription rate is $25 per year. If you are
from other areas of California, it's $30, the rest of the
U.S. will cost you $35.
